Happy St. Nick's, beautiful people of OnMilwaukee!
Drench Milwaukee in candle light, a sonnet
This city breathes at the mouth of a river
And stretches along the arm of the lake
The water is turquoise, the buildings are silver
And the folks who live there are rarely fake
Although it’s never frozen over
The winter birds can stand offshore
The sun can rest, enjoy the closure
And the folks who live there go indoors
To string the corn, water the pine
Leave seed for the starlings and crows
They crush the cherries for brandy and wine
And the frozen lake continues to flow
May all feel peace on St. Nicholas night
And drench Milwaukee in candlelight
